ATLANTA-AmericasMart Atlanta has partnered with Verizon Wireless to create a fully functional wireless communications throughout the entire AmericasMart campus, which spans more than seven million square feet. The Distributed Antenna System (DAS) installation, which has been completed in time for the January Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market and The Atlanta International Area Rug Market, will deliver improved wireless coverage, capacity and data speeds for Verizon Wireless customers.
The DAS includes separate antenna locations mounted throughout the campus to boost network strength and capacity. In addition to ensuring calls are successfully connected, the DAS allows smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices to access the Internet, send text messages and quickly share photos and videos to social networking sites.
Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., president and chief operating officer of parent company AMC Inc., notes that the completion of this installation achieves a major milestone in AmericasMart's mission to create optimal business advantages for all customers.
"This takes us into a new universe of opportunities powered by technology innovations that will reshape how business is done. We are working on several opportunities to enhance the AmericasMart market experience, plus other new advancements to come, all resulting from this strategic technology investment," Portman adds.
Additionally, Verizon Wireless products and services will be available for purchase onsite starting with the January 2013 markets.
