Theodore Alexander expands Vietnam team

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam — High-end case goods manufacturer Theodore Alexander has named several people to new positions in an effort to improve operations ranging from purchasing and sourcing to merchandising.
Melvin Wilson has joined the company as senior vice president of operations, a new position. He was most recently vice president of manufacturing at Hickory Chair and earlier was with Simex International.
Wilson reports to President Anthony Maitland-Smith and will oversee manufacturing, quality assurance, wood sampling and maintenance at the company's Plant 1 here.
Brian Martin has been named manager of research and development, a role previously held by Werner Freundel. Martin, who has worked in product development for Pennsylvania House, Outlook International and Lilly Inds., reports to CEO Harvey Dondero.
Freundel has been promoted to director of the merchandising department, a new position, reporting to Dondero. He will communicate with customers, salespeople, manufacturing and product development to make sure products align with the needs and demands of consumers.
Rajeev Kapoor will head a new materials sourcing department. He has been with Theodore Alexander since 2001 and previously worked in the purchasing department. In his new role, he reports to Maitland-Smith and will help identify sourcing opportunities and potential vendors, and with selecting and developing materials and other subcomponents.
The company also has promoted Nguyen Thahn Giang to manager of the purchasing department. Previously in middle management in purchasing, she reports to Maitland-Smith.
