The product, suitable for furniture, cabinets and wall structures, offers designers, manufacturers and specifiers a quality, bendable product that is better for the environment and one’s health, according to the company.
The face of FlexGreen is made from Forest Stewardship Council-certified eucalyptus fiber hardboard attached to a particleboard substrate core that is made from 100% recovered and recycled fiber.
The face, core and glue used in FlexGreen contain no added formaldehyde, a colorless, pungent gas that can cause watery eyes, burning sensations in the eyes and throat, nausea and difficulty in breathing in some people.
FlexGreen allows for normal fabrication methods of attaching to a rigid structure, and then application of face material. It is designed to bend down to a 10-inch radius prior to lamination.
With its stable hardboard face, it’s possible to laminate a single-ply veneer or other thin materials directly to the hardboard by use of a cold or hot press. This process will result in a bending radius of 16 inches and 18 inches.
