RANDOLPH, Miss. — Jim Sneed has taken over as president of promotional upholstery maker Affordable Furniture, succeeding Terry Austin, who died recently after an extended illness.
Former partners in a sales and marketing company, Sneed and Austin started Affordable in 2004 and grew it to a company exceeding $30 million during its first two years of operations. Steed remains as the company’s CEO, a post he has held since the start-up.
Sneed said Affordable’s board decided that other members of the company’s management team would assume Austin’s responsibilities.
“You can’t replace somebody like Mr. Austin,” said Sneed. “We’re going to all close ranks. I won’t be traveling as much as I did.”
Dale Gray, vice president of manufacturing, will assume some of the operations duties of Austin, who was also the company’s chief operating officer.
Jerry Cowsert, plant manager, will assume some responsibilities formerly held by Gray. Richard Chrestman, personnel manager and purchasing director, also will assume additional duties
