Lacks Valley to grand open store in Alice, Texas

PHARR, Texas — Lacks Valley Stores will grand open its 35,000-square-foot store on East Main Street in Alice, Texas, with a ribbon cutting set for 10 a.m. May 19.

The showroom is a former Lack's Stores location. Lack's, which is not affiliated with Lacks Valley, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November and subsequently liquidated all 36 stores.

Lacks Valley, a Top 100 company with estimated furniture, bedding and accessories sales of nearly $80 million in 2010, has said it expects the Alice location, its 12th store, to add about $5 million in annual sales.

Consumers visiting the new store can register to win prizes, including a $3,999 furniture package that includes bedroom, living room and dining room collections and a 40-inch LCD TV.

"We look forward to providing Alice with the high-quality service and merchandise that our customers expect from us," said Lacks Valley General Manager Al Moffitt.

The store features a coffee bar and furniture, bedding, appliances and electronics departments, as well as next-day delivery out of its Alice warehouse.

Key suppliers include Fairmont Designs, Lane, La-Z-Boy, AICO, Natuzzi and Homelegance in furniture, and Simmons, Restonic, Sealy and Stearns & Foster in bedding.
