Young changing Bradington role
Joan Gunin -- Furniture Today, December 16, 2007
Cherryville, N.C. — C. Scott Young will step down Jan. 31 as president and CEO of Bradington-Young, Hooker Furniture's leather and motion upholstery arm, the company said last week.
Young will remain with Bradington-Young as senior vice president, merchandising and product development, a newly created position. Senior managers at Bradington-Young and Hooker will assume his other duties.
Young said he initiated the job change, which he said "allows me to do what I like best ... the development of new product for both our domestic and import product lines."
Bradington-Young executives will report to Alan Cole, executive vice president of upholstery for Hooker. They include Craig Young, senior vice president, sales; Ben Causey, senior vice president, finance and administration; Conrad Kerley, vice president, leather and import operations; and Dale Smith, vice president of manufacturing. Scott Young also continues to report to Cole.
"It's a great young team," Cole said.
Bradington-Young was launched in 1977 by Charles Young Jr. and others as an offshoot of Woodmark. Charles Young is the father of Scott Young, Craig Young and also Clark Young, Bradington-Young's North Carolina sales representative.
Scott Young worked for the company as a teenager and, after stints at Hancock & Moore, Masco and Drexel Heritage, returned to Bradington-Young as president in 1995.
