Futon group names Tedesco president
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 16, 2007
Orlando, Fla. — The Futon and Specialty Sleep Trade group, or FAST, has elected Sue Tedesco of The Institute of Futon in Orlando as 2007–08 president, and added two members to its board of directors.
The new board members are Tom Erdman of Handy Living in Melrose Park, Ill., who also was elected secretary, and Tim Harwell of Action Futons in Clearwater, Fla.
In addition to Tedesco and Erdman, other FAST officers are Karen Day of Otis Bed Mfg. in Buffalo, N.Y., vice president; and Richard Arnovitz of The Futon Store in Memphis, Tenn., treasurer.
The previous secretary, Pattie MacMillen of Harvey Bigelow Designs in Fall River, Mass., and Brian Donohoo of Strata Furniture in White Bear Lake, Minn., are leaving the board.
Donohoo and MacMillen also were past presidents of the organization, which was formerly the Futon Assn. International.
FAST, meanwhile, has adopted a new mission statement: "To help our members flourish in the marketplace."
"We anticipated this year to be very exciting, incredibly challenging and ultimately rewarding," said Tedesco. "This and past boards of directors have always been proud to be the voice of and represent the futon and specialty sleep trades of our industry."
