Kelly to head leasing at Showplace

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 16, 2007

Industry veteran Marion Kelly has been named vice president of real estate for Capstone-Showplace, which manages Showplace, Showplace West and Hamilton Properties here.

He will be in charge of leasing for the properties, which total about 1 million square feet of showroom space. He will assume the post in January.

He stepped down earlier this year as president of lighting and accent furniture supplier Currey and Co., which he joined in 2003.

Previously, he was publisher of Home Accents Today and Casual Living, sister publications of Furniture/Today. Kelly started his career as a sales representative and held positions at Atlanta's AmericasMart and the Atlanta Merchandise Mart.

Maurice Hull, a Capstone-Showplace owner, said Kelly "has a strong understanding of the entire home furnishings marketplace. His passion for the industry will be good for our properties and good for the High Point market."

Kelly replaces Tim McGee, who rejoined Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. in October as vice president of leasing for its High Point properties.
