By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 23, 2007
Laurel Hollow, N.Y. — Mort Tenenbaum, one of the first Natuzzi sales representatives in America, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 79.
Tenenbaum owned a furniture manufacturer in North Carolina before joining Natuzzi in 1982, selling leather upholstery in the greater New York market.
In 1985, Natuzzi Upholstery Inc. was established in the United States and Tenenbaum became its sales representative for New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. He remained with Natuzzi for 23 years, always among the company's top-selling reps.
Tenenbaum served on the Cold Spring Harbor School Board for nearly 20 years, including several terms as president, and was commodore of the local yacht club.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn; four children, including his son, Richard, who is in furniture sales; and three grandchildren.
Contributions in his memory may be sent to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, in care of Maura Dickler, M.D., 1275 York Ave., New York, N.Y. 10065.
