Jaipur Home names Steve Eisler president of U.S. operations

India-based furniture source looks to expand distribution

Heath E. Combs -- Furniture Today, December 30, 2009

JODHPUR, India — Solid wood dining, bedroom, and occasional furniture supplier Jaipur Home has named industry veteran Steve Eisler president of U.S. operations.

Shekhawati Art Exports, based in Jodhpur, does business in the U.S. as Jaipur Home. Eisler reports to Shekhawati Art Exports CEO and owner Subodh Johari.

He will focus on sales, brand development, marketing and merchandising. Eisler was most recently director of sales and marketing for another Indian manufacturer, Classic Home.

He has also had sales, manufacturing and merchandising roles at companies including Kinwai, Shadowbrook Furniture, ArtCraft Furniture, Affordable Furniture, Thomasville, Wynwood and Vaughan-Bassett.

Shekhawati has production facilities in India that include four main campuses with about 2.5 million square feet in 100 buildings, a press release said.

Jaipur aims to expand its North American distribution efforts with independent retailers, the release said. It currently has a factory stocking program and U.S. warehouse in Bentonville, Ark.

The company also has a new consolidation warehouse under construction in Shekhawati, India, and says it plans to have the warehouse stocked with goods ready to ship by late spring.

Jaipur is considering sites for a Los Angeles warehouse that tentatively will open this spring. A U.S. office with a small showroom will likely open in January in City of Industry, Calif., Eisler said.

Eisler said that the company has a sales force of about 25 reps, most of whom have experience selling product from India.

"The Jaipur sales team will also be a vital link in the sales floor training of our retail partner's sales reps," he said.

Eisler's new post had previously been filled by Johari's nephew, who now will handle inventory flow and logistics at the Bentonville warehouse.

The company focuses on Top 200 furniture dealers and hits medium price points with its branded goods, and also provides OEM product, according to Eisler.

The company has shown as Shekhawati at the Las Vegas Market and Jaipur Home in High Point. Eisler said that moving forward the company will be called Jaipur Home.
