Scoperta, Proposte set for May
Limos, buses will link Italian fabric shows

MILAN, Italy — The 10th edition of the annual Scoperta fabric show is set for May 6-8 at Fiera Milano here.
Chauffeur-driven Mercedes limos and mini-buses will carry buyers between Scoperta and the Proposte show in nearby Cernobbio, which runs May 7-9.
Bill Davis, head of Scoperta organizer Trade Link, said the company had considered building a structure for the event closer to Cernobbio, but decided Fiera Milano remained the best location.
“The facilities that the Fiera Milano exhibition center provides are excellent and this frees up our time to concentrate on building a great show for our exhibitors and visitors alike,” Davis said.
“I appreciate that the travel time between the Fiera Milano and Cernobbio is not ideal but we are working hard to provide an improved, fast and efficient transportation system. We will be whisking buyers to and from Fiera Milano using chauffeur-driven Mercedes limousines and minibuses so they will be able to travel in comfort and continue to conduct their business en-route,” he said.
As a platform for European producers to introduce new interior textiles, Scoperta will include some new features.
One will be the Crystal Ball, a novel way to show interior trends through the use of lasers and color images. The show will last 15 to 20 minutes and will feature the latest collections of colors and designs for autumn 2008.
Another new feature will be Viva@scoperta, a zone for ready-made collections. Products featured will include cushions, bed linen, pillowcases and table and kitchen linen.
Wallcoverings also will have a greater presence at Scoperta with a dedicated section called Parati (Italian for wallcoverings).
In 2007, Scoperta had exhibitors from 15 countries and visitors from 70. Top visiting countries were Italy, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Greece, Russian, Belgium, France, Netherlands and the United States.
