From the Editors of Home Accents Today -- Furniture Today, January 6, 2008

The six biggest rollouts are from Aldik, C&F, Troy/Hudson Valley Lighting, Campania, Reed & Barton and SPI-Home.
Rugs America has partnered with actress and designer Jane Seymour to introduce the new Jane Seymour Home Collection of area rugs at the Atlanta International Area Rug Market Jan. 17 to 20. Rug update
Recent improvements in power looming and hand tufting are opening up a new range of style and color possibilities in the area rugs category. Rug manufacturers interviewed for Home Accents Today's January Business Update said consumers still favor hand-knotted and natural-fiber rugs, but the rise of quality in hand-tufted rugs is creating an affordable alternative. Style-wise, transitional and more casual designs are gaining popularity as are softer looks with subtle shading. Technological improvements continue to increase the quality of man-made rugs, and the outdoor segment remains hot.
Style trends
Home Accents Today's product editors present a refreshed point of view for modern, re-imagined classics that combine past and future in January's Market Sketchbook feature. Earthy, eco-friendly designs are more sophisticated, botanical inspirations grow slick and streamlined and a sense of purity pays homage to nature.
In the same issue of Home Accents Today, members of the Designer Insight panel discuss emerging color and design trends, citing a shaky economy, a presidential election year and environmental concerns as key influences. One take on reimagined classics is described by designer Greg O'Neal as "Grandma with a twist." The group sees popularity growing for gold and copper metallics, gray and blue hues, earth tones with pops of color, multicultural and green inspirations.
