Atlanta rug market includes variety of socials

Party hoppers will love the Atlanta International Rug Market, where a number of exhibitors will welcome guests to events with food, drink and even dancing.

The revelry will climax on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the annual America's Magnificent Carpet Awards, co-sponsored by Architectural Digest and AmericasMart. The all-industry event will take place at 6 p.m. in the Georgia World Congress Center.

Here's a rundown of company parties, most of them in AmericasMart showrooms.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

Loloi Rugs, showroom 4C7. New collections will be unveiled at a preview party with live music from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Megerian Rugs, 3D22. Deborah Sanders, editor of Veranda, will meet and greet guests at a party from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A drawing will be held for a chance to win a trip to Megerian's rug-weaving facilities in Armenia.

Thursday, Jan. 17

Feizy Rugs, 5B1, will celebrate its 35th anniversary with an appearance by author and Food Network host Sandra Lee from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. She will meet customers, sign autographs and unveil six new designs in the Caprice collection.

Capel, 6F2, will host a party beginning at 4 p.m. to celebrate the redesign of its Atlanta showroom.

Kaleen, 3C9, will welcome Food Network host Paula Deen to meet and greet marketgoers at a party beginning at 5 p.m.

Peel & Co., 5D1, will host a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate its new Court of Versailles collection.

Zollanvari, 5D2, will celebrate its 2008 collection from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at a party sponsored by Architectural Digest.

Surya will host a party at 7 p.m. in the Capital City Club (next to AmericasMart) to acquaint marketgoers with the company as a source of coordinated home decor accessories.

Friday, Jan. 18

Hellenic, 6G12, will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a Greek party beginning at 5:30 p.m. that features live music, Greek food and dancing with traditional plate breaking. Customer appreciation gifts will be given.
