Select Comfort has layoffs
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 14, 2008
Minneapolis — Airbed producer and retailer Select Comfort, responding to challenging business conditions, said it has reduced the size of its workforce.
The company said it decided last month to adjust its cost structure, which "resulted in several positions being eliminated and a reduction in headcount of fewer than 25 individuals." It did not identify the positions eliminated.
In a statement to Furniture/Today, Select Comfort said it was "a difficult decision. ... However, to align infrastructure with a challenging economic environment and ensure continued investments in future growth, company management felt it was necessary to immediately implement this decision."
Select Comfort reported in December that its 2007 sales and earnings would fall short of earlier projections. But it also said its future remains bright "because of growing consumer need, an advantaged brand and product, high-quality sales and service, and a mission-driven team and culture."
