Gillies joins Hamilton Spill
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 13, 2008
Richmond, British Columbia — Industry veteran and former Wynwood Furniture president Andy Gillies has joined importer Hamilton Spill as vice president of sales for the eastern United States.
He replaces Scott Bishop, who left the company in October. Gillies will report to Hamilton Spill President Rick Verjee.
"During a comprehensive search of the market and an exhaustive interview process, Andy clearly distinguished himself as a leader from a field of more than 60 candidates," Verjee said. "Gillies' experience in both case goods and soft goods will definitely be an asset to the product development side of our business."
Gillies left Wynwood in October after 10 years as president of the company, a division of DMI Furniture, which is owned by Flexsteel.
He has worked in the industry for more than 38 years. He started in retail and became co-owner of Barrett Furniture in Ann Arbor, Mich. He was an independent sales representative in Ohio for 20 years and is a former president of the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn.
