Leon's closes purchase of Appliance Canada
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 13, 2008
Toronto — Retailer Leon's Furniture has closed on its previously announced purchase of Appliance Canada, and said it will retain current management to operate the company as a separate division.
Appliance Canada sells major appliances to builders and apartment landlords. It also has three showrooms — in the Toronto suburb of Concord, in London, Ontario, and in Richmond, British Columbia — that sell appliances to the public.
"This purchase will give us a significant entry into the wholesale distribution of major home appliances to the building and apartment trade, and entry into selling high-end appliances to the public," said Leon's president and CEO Terry Leon.
Appliance Canada has annual sales of about C$100 million.
