ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — American Furniture Warehouse partnered with Denver's NBC affiliate in a December charity drive benefiting the U.S. Marines' Toys for Tots program.
Promoted on 9News' newscasts and Web site and in AFW advertisements, the drive took in more than 20,000 toys and $8,600 in cash during the holiday season at AFW's 12 Colorado stores.
"American Furniture Warehouse is proud to partner with 9News in support of their Hero Central concept," the Top 100 retailer said in a release. "This program is a joint effort to increase community support and involvement in the organization, non-profits and individuals alike that work to make Colorado and our local communities a great place for all of us."
The partnership between the furniture chain and the NBC affiliate kicked off in November. This month, the two groups are working to collect money and toiletries for Providence Network, a Denver-based non-profit with housing programs that provide shelter and food for the homeless, help for those with addictions and safety for battered women and their children.
