The campaign, created by Andover, Mass.-based Advertising Management Services, features Larry Rubin, Rob Rubin, and Michelle Pepe, the three children of the founders of the Top 100 company, Bernie and Phyllis Rubin. The trio have helped run the family-owned business for many years, but more recently have taken on the role of primary spokespeople from their parents.
In one of the spots, the Rubin children offer free high-definition TVs with a minimum purchase, but warn viewers, "Don't tell Bernie!"
"The ads have really resonated with our customers," said Larry Rubin, president of the six-store Boston-area company. He said the retailer has received "a flood of e-mails from viewers who loved the playfulness of the ads."
Bernie & Phyl's said it plans to build on the success of the "Don't Tell Bernie" campaign this year, in addition to developing new creative concepts that showcase the Rubin family.
