High Point-area hotels offering discount pricing for April market
Rates are almost 25% less than last spring, according to show organizers
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 14, 2010
HIGH POINT — Dozens of hotels in the area are cutting their rates for the spring High Point Market, according to show organizers.
The High Point Market Authority's Web site at www.highpointmarket.org lists the room rates of 54 hotels that have committed to the market's Hotel Partner Program.
Market Authority President and CEO Brian Casey said the rates "are almost 25% less than last spring, while eliminating any restrictions for minimum-night stays." The Web site also features market-only discounts on airfare and rental cars.
To benefit from the program, marketgoers must book rooms through the High Point Market site, clicking on the accommodations tab on the home page. Or, contact Dawn Smith, the Market Authority's director of housing, by phone at (800) 874-6492.
"For the past two years, we've worked closely with (area) hoteliers to advocate on behalf of our market guests," Casey says.
He said that hotel rates "have dropped by as much as 30% on average since we began the process in 2008, with some by nearly 50%." In addition, all the properties included in the program have eliminated minimum-night stay requirements.
