West Chester, Ohio — Lifestyle specialty retailer Ikea is set to open its 344,000-square-foot store here in greater Cincinnati on March 12, its first in Ohio and sixth in the Midwest.
The store will be on 28 acres of a 56-acre parcel along I-75 at the southeastern corner of Allen and Muhlhauser roads.
"We made excellent progress on construction in the summer and fall, so we are confident the remaining construction milestones and interior build-up process will be complete by March," said Lonnie Rodgers II, the manager of the store. "Now our primary objective is to continue hiring and training the nearly 400 local hires who will be joining the Ikea family before we open."
The Cincinnati store, the Top 100 chain's 34th in the United States, will feature 10,000 exclusively designed items, 48 room settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children's play area, and a 350-seat restaurant serving Swedish specialties and American dishes.
Sweden-based Ikea has over 270 stores in 36 countries. Other new U.S. stores are on tap for Brooklyn, N.Y.; Charlotte, N.C.; Somerville, Mass., metro Boston; and Tampa, Fla.
