Leather-covered upholstery in furniture stores
- Median best-selling price points for a leather-covered stationary sofa, $1,199, and average mark-up, 1.88 times.
- Median best-selling price points for a leather-covered motion sofa, $1,299, with an average mark-up of 1.92 times
- Median best-selling price points for a leather-covered recliner, $699, and posting an average mark-up of 1.88 times.

Leather style trends for stationary sofas
- Of retailers' 2008 total upholstery sales, 62% came from stationary upholstery, 20% from reclining chairs and 18% from motion upholstery.
- Leather/suede was the most-popular fabrics for retailers' 2008 stationary sofa unit sales, generating 25% of total unit sales.
- Leather/suede grabbed an even larger percentage, 34% of retailers' 2008 reclining chairs unit sales.
- 40% of retailers' 2008 motion sofa unit sales are covered in leather/suede.
- Combining stationary and motion sofas, along with reclining chairs, retailers' unit sales of leather or suede-covered upholstery grew 12% between 2006 and 2008.

Consumers and sofas
- 56% of responding consumers desire new home furnishings, according to our September 2009 consumer survey in partnership with HGTV.
- When asked what products they plan to buy in 2010, 17% plan to buy a leather recliner
- 12% of responding consumers plan to buy a leather sofa in 2010
