Aspenhome to introduce biggest wood group in Vegas

European Memoirs also includes some upholstery

Jeff Linville -- Furniture Today, January 25, 2008

LAS VEGAS — The biggest single case goods collection at next week’s Las Vegas Market will be part of Aspenhome’s World Market Center space, B-801.

European Memoirs is a whole-home line of more than 100 pieces, including bedroom, dining, occasional, home office, home entertainment, as well as fabric and leather upholstery and leather. The collection draws upon furnishings found in quaint villages of Europe. Birch and pecan solids and veneers feature Cognac and Crème Fraiche finishes, while aged hand-cast steel hardware and iron accents provide an Old World feel.

“It is important to our customer because this style has grown in popularity over the last 10 years due to the European country antiques and reproductions sought by their consumers,” said Jena Hall, Aspenhome vice president of merchandising and design.

“This collection brings back some wonderful memories for me as its inspiration is drawn from my many years of travel throughout Europe,” said Hall. “Even those who have only dreamed of a European adventure will feel well traveled with the charm that these classic pieces reflect.”

Signature dining pieces include: the Chevalier Family Tableau, which can expand to seat up to 12, has a parquet top with piecrust borders and a Renaissance-inspired base; the La Dauphine gathering table with self-storing perimeter leaves; and the Canapé hutch/server with storage, heat-resistant marble top, extension shelves and hidden electrical outlets.

“Many of the dining tables throughout Europe would have fascinating stories to tell if they could only talk,” said Hall. “In fact, the country trestle table that inspired our table served the Chevalier family for many generations. Rumor has it that this table was used to plan missions during WWII while serving in the Resistance and has been used for everyday dining in the large estate kitchen ever since.”

The signature pieces from the European Memoirs Bedroom Collection include: Madame Bonnard four-poster bed with optional canopy, inspired by a bed found at the Inn of Madame Bonnard in St. Paul de Vence; Monsieur Bonnard’s gentleman’s chest with serpentine front and two hidden storage panels;  clothing/entertainment chest and cheval mirror.
