WINNIPEG, Manitoba —
Retail veteran Rick Gioia has joined Dufresne Retail Solutions Group as business development manager responsible for Ontario and Atlantic Canada.
Gioia has spent 27 years in furniture retailing in Canada, most recently as the owner and operator of Stratford Furniture & Sleep Centre in Stratford, Ontario. The store closed last month.
He has also become a student of the business and has extensively studied the sales system created by author and former U.S. furniture retailer John F. Lawhon.
For the past eight years, Gioia also has represented Lawhon's firm, Selling Retail International, in Canada.
He will report to Dufresne director Steve Braniff and will be based in Stratford.
“The time has come for Rick to open a new chapter in his life, assisting other furniture retailers in the success of their stores and training sales people to be successful,” Braniff said in a statement.
Gioia joins Ed Cowx, who was named the group's business development manager for British Columbia last month, and Jeff Tate, who has the same role in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
