ROSEVILLE, Calif. —
Western Home Furnishings Assn. members may find themselves wishing upon a star at the retail group's 2010 Conference & Expo, to be held May 2 to 4 at a Disney property in Anaheim, Calif.
“There is no better place, and no better partner, than Disney to inspire all of us,” said Claudia LeClair, WHFA's 2010 president.
In announcing the event, to be held at Disney's Grand Californian Resort & Spa, WHFA officials called Disney a “marketing powerhouse” that rewrote the rules of business. The association plans a diverse assortment of educational and networking events and workshops for the conference, and is partnering with the Disney Institute for the educational component.
“Disney Institute is a recognized leader in experiential training, leadership development, benchmarking and cultural change for businesses from around the globe. This is an opportunity not to be missed, especially in this competitive business climate,” said Sharron Bradley, WHFA's executive director.
The conference will open with a story of building a new corporate culture at Harley-Davidson by Ken Schmidt, former director of communication for the motorcycle manufacturer.
Other educational highlights will include a behind-the-scenes look at how Disney merchandises its stores, 20-minute educational sessions called Express Expo, and a closing session on “Getting Your Business to Work” by George Hedley, who will show how to transform a company into a systemized and organized, profitable and growing business.
Registration for the conference is $495 per person, or $395 for groups of three or more full registrations from the same organization.
Discounted room rates at the Grand Californian are $189 per night, with several perks such as waived resort fees and free parking thrown in. The reservation code is GCWD10A.
More details will be posted in January on the WHFA Web site at whfa.org.
