City of Hope to honor Grand Home

LOS ANGELES —
City of Hope's National Home Furnishings Industry Group will honor the Cartledge and Bennett families, owners of Grand Home Furnishings, with its Spirit of Life Award on April 18 during the High Point Market.
The families will receive City of Hope's top philanthropic honor at a gala event at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons.
Roanoke, Va.-based Grand Home is a Furniture/Today Top 100 company and one of the largest furniture chains in the South, with 15 stores in 14 cities in Virginia, Tennessee and West Virginia. The Cartledge and Bennett families have owned and operated the company since 1945.
In its 45-year history, the National Home Furnishings Industry Group has raised more than $45 million for cancer research, treatment and education at City of Hope, a medical center focusing on cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
“City of Hope is an enormous asset to patients everywhere who face a life-threatening disease,” said Grand Home President George Cartledge III. “Our company is privileged to help the institution pursue new ideas and accelerate the pace of discovery so that cures can be found.”
