Kingsdown featuring two new bed systems

By David Perry -- Furniture Today, January 27, 2008

Top 10 bedding producer Kingsdown is adding to its "Body" of work here with new products to complement its BodyDiagnostics line.

The new beds are the BodyCaress, a top-of-the-line model, and the BodySystem Plus, the step-up to the Kingsdown BodySystem models.

Kingsdown is showing this week in the Titian ballroom at the Venetian, where it will host retailers for the first three days of market from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. The producer will serve a continental breakfast from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. each day, lunch from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and appetizers with an open bar from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

In addition to showing new beds, Kingsdown will be talking about its new Sleep to Live Research Center. Kingsdown's Robert Oexman will discuss advances in sleep research and technology made by the center in an address Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. in its showroom.

Also set for market are drawings for a trip to London, Sydney and Bangkok. Each winner will be hosted by the Kingsdown team in that city.

Both of the new beds feature the Solo Construction that Kingsdown is using in its top-end products. The system gives each sleeper the unit that provides the best in postural alignment and virtually eliminates partner disturbance. The individual wrapped coils are surrounded by Kingsdown's Full Body Surround edge system. Each spring unit acts independently, so that movement by one sleeper is not transferred to the other, Kingsdown said.

By putting two individual coil units in one mattress, the BodyCaress and BodySystem Plus models can deliver the proper postural alignment for each sleeper, whatever their body types or shapes. And by offering the proper spring unit for each sleeper, tossing and turning will be reduced, says Kingsdown.

The BodyCaress models feature the new CaressCoil that Kingsdown is importing from Italy. It delivers support and comfort characteristics that are new to the industry, the company said. The CaressCoil unit features a series of independent coils encased with memory foam. The combination of independent coil action and memory foam produces a mattress that cradles the body for superior comfort and pressure relief, Kingsdown said.

The CaressCoil is paired with a continuous wire unit in the box spring to give that unit two spring units, thereby further boosting postural alignment and providing pressure relief.

The new models will be shipped to retailers in March.

Kingsdown is offering free limo service during the market. It will pick retailers up at any location, bring them to the Venetian, and then take them wherever they need to go.
