Space for Karel's Jersey show filling up quickly

Edison, N.J. — Karel Exposition Management's Edison Furniture & Accessory Market, set for Feb. 3-5 in the New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center here, is almost sold out to exhibitors, the company reported.
KEM Founder Larry Karel said the popularity of this year's show was a welcome surprise in light of the current economic climate.
"In addition to furniture stores, designers, specialty stores, bedding stores, etc., the show will also be attracting small hotels, nursing and convalescent homes for their furnishing requirements," said Karel.
The 52nd Edison market is expected to draw buyers from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. More than 1,000 exhibit spaces will offer furniture, bedding, lighting and decorative accessories.
The show will be open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Feb. 3 and 4, and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Many of the retailers who attend Karel's drive-in shows don't go to major national furniture markets.
"This is great news for distributors, representatives, and manufacturers as there's no costly permanent showroom to maintain," said Karel. "The show comes to them, for less than a tank of gas. There's no air fare, hotel room or car rental needed."
Admittance to the Karel shows is free. Attendees must have two forms of proper business identification showing that they are in the home furnishings industry.
