LAS VEGAS – Chair resource Sigla is launching a green division at this week’s furniture market here.
The division is run by Sigla co-owner Lawdan Bazargan and offers Forest Stewardship Council- certified woods on several Sigla frames.
The company is offering woods from Sino-forest, a Hong Kong supplier it located through the Forest Certification Resource Center, a program of Metafore, a nonprofit organization that promotes eco-friendly products.
FCRC suppliers use Canadian Standards Assn., Forest Stewardship Council and Sustainable Forestry Initiative programs.
Bazargan said certified wood will add about 15% to product costs. The company is showing at market here at the MGM Grand Pavillion Living Green exhibit, in space 6731.
Sigla also is offering a water-based glue option on raw frames sourced from its domestic facilities in Los Angeles and a fabric option for its green division with City of Commerce, Calif.-based Danfield Leather that uses vegetable dyes.
