Kalaty Rug to open permanent High Point showroom
Will occupy Market Square space at April market

NEW YORK — Kalaty Rug Corp. will open a 1,700-square-foot permanent showroom on the second floor of High Point's historic Market Square in time for the April market.
Kalaty's new High Point location, in space 202 of the building, will be the company's third permanent showroom. It also has space its Park Avenue South headquarters here and at AmericasMart in Atlanta.
The company has shown at the High Point Market since 2007 in a small space within the Market Square showroom of upholstery and case goods manufacturer Highland House. In its new permanent showroom, Kalaty will be able to feature a broader selection of its rug line.
"High Point is an important market for us, and we feel that the historic architectural backdrop of Market Square is the ideal place to showcase our full line of rug collections, which ranges from contemporary to transitional to traditional designs," said Ariel Kalaty, a company spokesman.
He said the permanent High Point showroom is part of broader and more aggressive sales and marketing plan, which also includes "better serving our current customer base as well as our desire to forge new and lasting relationships within the furniture community with manufacturers, furniture dealers and designers."
The Kalaty family rug business traces its roots to the early 1900s in Iran. Mirza Kalaty founded Kalaty Rug Corp. in the United States in 1979. Today, Mirza Kalaty and his five sons - Ramin, Mike, Farshad, Ariel and Kamran - operate the company.
The spring High Point Market runs April 17-22.
