Tatum offering La-Z-Boy luxury spas

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 3, 2008

You'll soon be able to take a soothing soak in your La-Z-Boy — spa, that is.

The furniture manufacturer and retailer has signed a licensing agreement with Florida-based Tatum Mfg. to produce and market a line of luxury portable spas.

The four-product lineup, known as the La-Z-Boy Spas Premier Collection, includes the first spas sold under the La-Z-Boy brand name. They were unveiled in November at the International Pool and Spa Expo in Orlando, Fla.

In addition, a La-Z-Boy Limited spa is available exclusively through Costco Wholesale in Canada.

"We feel that portable spas are a wonderful fit for the La-Z-Boy brand as we focus on bringing more comfort into our customers' lives," said Doug Collier, the company's chief marketing officer.

Brad Tatum, president of Tatum Mfg., said La-Z-Boy is known for comfort, quality, value and style, and said he hopes "to bring these same qualities to the back yard by incorporating La-Z-Boy comfort elements into the design of our underwater seating."

The La-Z-Boy spas will feature reclining seats and variable-speed motors that allow the user to control jet pressure.
