LAS VEGAS —
Playboy Enterprises has partnered with actor and designer Bryan Batt to create “The Hef,” a limited-edition loveseat to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Playboy Clubs in 2010.
The Hef will be unveiled at 3 p.m. Feb. 1, the opening day of the Las Vegas Market, in the space A-100 showroom of the manufacturer, Brownstone Furniture.
Batt, who appears on AMC's “Mad Men,” will be at the launch. Also appearing will be some Playboy Bunnies, probably from the club in Las Vegas.
Only 50 loveseats will be made, and each will be hand-signed by Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. The loveseat will be covered in a gray mohair, with nailhead detailing, rosewood side panels, down-wrapped 2.0 density foam seat cushions and all-down back cushions. Each will retail for $15,000.
In addition to acting and designing, Batt, with a partner, owns Hazelnut, a design shop in New Orleans that will sell The Hef through its Web site, www.HazelnutNewOrleans.com.
Batt said he was inspired by the Playboy lifestyle and the legacy of Hugh Hefner's vision in designing what is described as a “loveseat that represents timeless modern style, class and functionality.” The seating pieces are expected to be sought after by collectors and aficionados.
Hefner's signature will be placed under a cushion and will be sewn in as a permanent label.
