FabricTech adds silver fibers to sleep products

CEDAR GROVE, N.J. —
FabricTech International says it is raising the bar in the sleep products protection industry with the introduction of new products that use sanitized silver fibers, imported from Germany. It will be the first use of those fibers in the U.S. market, the company said.
The line, called FabricTech Elite, will help consumers sleep easier by killing bacteria on contact, and also providing protection against allergens, dust mites and moisture, officials said. It will debut at the Las Vegas Market, where FabricTech shows in World Market Center C-1532.
“Simply put, FabricTech Elite mattress and pillow protectors offer the finest unsurpassed protection against bacteria and dust mites, mold and mildew in our industry,” said Jeff Bergman, president and chief operating officer of FabricTech.
“It is time for our customers to take back their bedroom from the bacteria and dust mites that create an unhealthy sleeping environment, and allow them to rest assured that their bedroom is the safest place to be.”
He said the silver ions in the new system locate bacteria and “deactivate it, while suppressing the reproduction of dust mites and their allergens.”
The new products have been dermatologically tested and are safe and environmentally friendly. And they don't impair the comfort and contour of the sleep surface, the company said.
“FabricTech Elite is the result of our strong research and development team that is constantly looking to bring new innovations in health and hygiene to the sleep surface protection industry,” said Arnold Hershbain, CEO of FabricTech. “We believe the introduction of bacteria prevention in our products will be as important as the first time we offered a total encasement product and our exclusive PureFlow filter with AirXchange micro-filtration technology that adds a new degree of comfort with a breathable micro-filter sewn into products.”
The new FabricTech Elite products range in price from $119 to $169 in queen. The pillow protector retails for $39.
The company also will be entering two new product categories at the Las Vegas show, introducing a Crib Protector and a Travel Pillow Protector. Both of those products feature the company's flagship OmniGuard Ultra material that uses a breathable outer layer to absorb perspiration, moisture and stains, while a waterproof inner membrane prevents moisture from reaching the mattress or pillow.
The Crib Protector will retail for $49, while the Travel Pillow Protector, available in two sizes, retails from $29 to $39.
“It was only natural for us to expand our offerings to the nursery and for travelers, as both of these segments of the market have been underserved and in need of a protection product solution such as ours for a long time,” said Hershbain.
