Massage chair connects users to wellness programs

LAS VEGAS —

Human Touch, a resource for robotic massage chairs and related products, is unveiling a high-end massage chair that allows users to wirelessly connect to a variety of wellness programs through an iPhone or iPod touch application.

The new application, called HT-Connect, lets users personalize the new AcuTouch 9500 massage chair after consulting the many educational resources available through the app.

“HT-Connect was designed to meet the growing needs of today's consumers who rely on their wireless personal devices to stay connected and live better,” said David Wood, CEO of Human Touch. “By making this innovative app available to consumers, we're able to deliver a user experience that offers the same personalized and professional massage that one would receive at a spa or from a professional massage therapist.”

The application will be available in May as a free download from www.HT-Connect.com or the Apple App Store.

“With HT-Connect and the Acu-Touch 9500, users can enjoy the health and wellness benefits of a daily massage … simply by pressing a button on their iPhone or iPod Touch,” said Wood.

The educational materials were largely developed by the Human Touch Wellness Council, an advisory group that includes PGA golf pro Tim Clark and former Olympian Jeff Galloway, who competed in the 10,000-meter run in the 1972 Olympics and has since written several books on running and fitness.

The new massage chair, which will retail for about $5,999, allows users to initially program eight personalized massages, but that can be expanded to 16 by using HT-Connect.

Other features of the chair include a detection system that scans the back and maps key pressure points, a retractable foot and calf massager, and a pair of heating units that warm the lower back.
