Abbyson Living talks with retailers, consumers on Twitter
Feedback helps company in product development

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Rug and furniture source Abbyson Living has established a presence on Twitter to enhance its communications with retailers and designers.
Abbyson Living communicates via Twitter by "tweeting" information about new product designs and features as well as providing links to product photos and videos.
Abbyson also is using Twitter to create a vehicle for two-way communication between the company and its customers, including consumers, fielding questions about product design, distribution and corporate initiatives. It also is using the site to gather feedback and to develop products that retailers would like to sell and consumers would like to buy.
For example, Abbyson launched its new Bacara entertainment unit in December, incorporating recommendations from its Twitter followers.
"Embracing Twitter has allowed us to invite our fans along (for) the ride, but more importantly it has provided us with an opportunity to respond to their needs in order to effectively produce better quality designed home furnishings products," said Yavar Rafieha, vice president of marketing and sales.
The company's involvement with social media includes the creation of a Flickr page, still under development, that will encourage designers to upload photos of their latest design projects using Abbyson Living products.
