De Lisa showing power outlet

LAS VEGAS —
Chris De Lisa, who has developed a power outlet for motion and stationary upholstery, is showing his invention at this week's Las Vegas Market.
De Lisa, a sales executive with manufacturer and importer Home Line Inds., will show as De Lisa Power in one of the Retailer Resource Center areas, World Market Center space C-512-5.
The patent-pending device allows consumers to plug a power cord directly into the arm or side of upholstery, eliminating the need to move the furniture out of the way to plug in, for instance, a laptop or even a vacuum cleaner.
De Lisa initially sought an exclusive arrangement with one or two large upholstery suppliers. But he said the early interest has been overwhelming and he believes the product has such broad application — from promotional to high-end — that its use shouldn't be limited that way.
“We see it becoming a standard feature in practically every seating surface, just like there is power steering in your car,” he said.
Kurt Behm, who has joined Wayne, N.J.-based De Lisa Power as executive vice president, said he has contacted the top 15 to 20 upholstery producers and almost all have agreed to stop by and see the company in Las Vegas.
De Lisa said he believes retailers will see the power outlet rolled out at the April High Point Market, by at least five upholstery producers.
