LAS VEGAS — Specialty bedding producer Sleep Studio has returned to this market with a plan to put more joy in sleep.
The New York-based company is introducing its new SleepJoy brand of memory foam mattresses and sleep accessories at its showroom in World Market Center C-1350. The brand carries the tagline, "Wake up Happy!"
These aren't your run-of-the-mill memory foam products, company officials insist. They say they are taking the category to new levels by virtually eliminating heat retention and chemical odors, which they say are the two most common consumer complaints about memory foam.
The company tackles the heat retention issue by combining an open-cell construction with ventilation to maximize air circulation. It addresses the chemical odor issue by using a blend of natural green tea in the formulation of its ViscoFresh memory foam.
"Like a one-two punch, ViscoFresh jumps out in front of the overcrowded memory foam field," said Michael Rothbard, CEO and president of Sleep Studio. "By offering all the body hugging, comfort and pressure relief of memory foam, without the overheating and chemical odor, we've eliminated any barriers to purchase and any reason for retail to suffer comfort returns."
Sleep Studio makes its ViscoFresh memory foam in its U.S. facilities.
The product makes important environmental strides, officials add. It uses plant-based ingredients, including a castor bean derivative instead of soy. It also uses a proprietary anti-microbial treatment called MicroSafe, which the company says is more eco-friendly than a more commonly used treatment.
"Naturally speaking, ViscoFresh goes farther than any other memory foam to address environmental concerns," Rothbard said. "From a consumer's perspective, for anyone who might be concerned about the talk of off-gassing, the lack of any chemical odor will put their mind at ease."
The SleepJoy mattress line is available in three constructions - plush, medium and firm, each offered in a nine-inch or 12-inch version. Prices start at $1,500.
The company has a line of four pillows, starting at $29, and three memory foam toppers, retailing at $99, $149 and $199.
Sleep Studio was launched in 2006 by industry veterans Rothbard and Chris Ann Ernst. The company's products are vacuum-packed and rolled for easy delivery and installation.
Sleep Studio will be offering retailers a drop-ship program for direct shipments to consumers.
