Furniture Brands hires Steelcase legal officer
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 17, 2008
St. Louis — Lynn Chipperfield, whose service at Furniture Brands International stretches back to when it was known as Interco, will retire after 25 years at the furniture manufacturer and importer, the company announced last week.
Replacing him as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary is Jon Botsford, most recently senior vice president, secretary and chief legal officer for contract furniture source Steelcase, where he spent 21 years.
Ralph Scozzafava, Furniture Brands vice chairman and CEO, said Botsford "brings a wealth of experience" to the job.
Chipperfield said he will stay at Furniture Brands a few weeks to assure a smooth transition.
"My wife and I have been involved for many years in a number of nonprofit and other educational interests, and we have decided to focus more of our attention in that direction," he said. "In my role on some nonprofit boards, I often tell college students that they have an obligation to leave the world a better place than it was when they showed up. I've decided it's time I took my own advice."
FBI Chairman Mickey Holliman said that during his years as CEO, he "relied heavily on Lynn's legal expertise and sound business counsel. ... We thank Lynn for his contributions and wish him well."
