Robb & Stucky glitters in Las Vegas

Shoppers from at least seven countries attend opening day

Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, February 19, 2008

LAS VEGAS — If the shoppers coming through Robb & Stucky’s first showroom here during the grand opening weekend are any indication of the store’s reach, then leaders Clive Lubner and Fred Berk should be beaming.

Berk, president of the Fort Myers, Fla.-based, upscale chain, saw everything from strollers to wheelchairs moving through the new 93,000-square-foot, two-level store.

The first two sales were to residents of California. On the first formal opening day, shoppers came from at least seven countries, including France, Belgium, Sweden and Italy.

The store is part of Town Square Las Vegas, a new 1.5 million-square-foot open-air shopping center on Las Vegas Boulevard South.

Robb & Stucky says its new Las Vegas store is positioned with easy access from freeways to pull consumers from throughout the metro area.

In the store’s large casual dining area, customers can mix and match bases, tops and chairs in some 168 combinations.

Isenhour upholstery and a Henredon cocktail table sit near the entrance of Robb & Stucky’s boutique, where the retailer offers an array of gift items from pewter and glassware, to carved soap statuettes, candles and Turkish towels.

The centerpiece mural over the escalators blends “celestial and Versace,” the company said, and sparkles with hand-set Swarovsky crystals.
