Singapore show organizers say registrations up

Singapore — Organizers of the International Furniture Fair Singapore/ASEAN Furniture Show say they are experiencing a rise in registrations, thanks to the change in dates to the second week in March.
A statement issued by the show said registration is up 20% from the same period last year. It did not list registration figures, but the show's Web site said the 2007 event attracted 17,322 visitors.
Organizers said the 450,000 square feet of show space at the Singapore Expo is fully booked. The March 9–12 show will feature more than 500 exhibitors from 30 countries, including 26 first-time exhibitors.
"We are delighted by the strong exhibitor take-up rates and the surge in visitor pre-registration numbers," said Tony Pang, chairman of the IFFS/AFS 2008 Show Advisory Panel. "In fact, the response has been so enthusiastic that we have received many requests for space for the 2009 edition of the show."
In the past, IFFS was held from March 1–5. Show officials decided to move it to March 9–12 to place it closer to shows in southern China that start in mid-March. That includes the International Famous Furniture Fair in Dongguan, which takes place March 16–20.
