Klaussner to show in High Point

By Ray Allegrezza -- Furniture Today, February 15, 2010

Klaussner Furniture will introduce a significant portion of its line in High Point for the first time in a new showroom at the spring market.

“For the past 30 years, we've shown our line in Asheboro, but the traffic patterns of the market have changed, and this move will allow us to make our products more accessible to our customers and will also help them maximize their time at market,” said J.B. Davis, CEO of the manufacturer and importer.

The company plans to show goods from its international division in High Point at the market, which runs April 17-22. It will display its imported case goods, casual dining and imported upholstery products in about 20,000 square feet on the first floor of Market on Green, 212 E. Green Drive.

The transition will be completed at the fall market with upholstery and other domestic products shown in about 30,000 square feet on the fifth floor of the same building. Until then, those products will continue to be shown in Asheboro.

During the transition period, Klaussner will continue to offer a free shuttle service between Asheboro and High Point during the market.

“We are a major player in the import business and our presence in our High Point showroom will allow us to showcase our imported goods where the majority of our customers are,” Davis said.

He added, “Retailers have also made it clear, however, that they still have a strong need for domestically priced furniture, especially at our price points, which tend to retail from $499 to $699 for custom orders.”

The company uses its Asheboro facility to warehouse all of its casual dining goods as well as a significant portion of its bedroom, dining and select upholstered goods.

That, in combination with its facilities in Shanghai for upholstered goods and Vietnam for case goods, gives Klaussner's customers the flexibility to order anything from a single item to fully mixed containers.

“While we are still that two-week truckload delivery company, we are also an international source with facilities throughout Asia that can handle whatever our customer needs,” Davis said.
