Ounoya Sofa Group
HAINING, China — Pete Sakaria has been named to the newly created post of president for the Ounoya Sofa Group.
He will oversee product development, merchandising, marketing, sales and customer service. He reports to Xu Yuelian, the China-based company's owner and CEO.
Ounoya Sofa Group is one of the largest sofa manufacturers here and has been supplying OEM companies and retailers for the past six years. It operates under the trade names Oyimay Sofa Group and Happy Leather Co. and shows at markets in Las Vegas and High Point.
Most recently, Sakaria was director of merchandising for Canadian retailer the Brick Group. Earlier, he was vice president of sofa manufacturer Dynasty Furniture.
“As we move to the next level of our growth to direct retail, we need a leader who is strong in product and merchandising, and has relationships with the Top 100 USA retailers. I see these qualities and the passion in Pete that will help us drive to the next level,” said Yuelian.
Cantrex
MONTREAL — Cantrex has named industry veteran Patrick Kelly director of its furniture network and retail programs, a new post within the group's furniture, bedding and appliance division.
Kelly will be based at the group's office in the Toronto suburb of Vaughan.
“He will be taking the existing retail and network programs to the next level in addition to introducing new ones to improve the competitiveness and profitability of retailer-members,” Cantrex said in a statement. “Kelly's mandate will also be to update our furniture networks to accelerate their Canadian growth.”
Until recently, he was director of sales and marketing for Donald Choi Canada, a furniture importer and distributor. Prior to that, he had a 30-year career with Sears Canada, working in retail operations, merchandising and procurement. He was also responsible for developing the department store's private label Sears-O-Pedic mattress line.
Kelly will report to Jean Favreau, vice president of furniture, appliances and bedding for Cantrex.
Hooker Furniture
MARTINSVILLE, Va. — Full-line resource Hooker Furniture has named Art Raymond senior vice president of operations and Keith Weisglass director of national accounts.
Raymond, a longtime furniture and wood products consultant, is responsible for wood operations including forecasting, supply chain management, warehousing and distribution, product quality, process improvement and customer service.
He reports to Paul Toms, chairman, CEO and president. Toms said Hooker has worked with Raymond on projects for 20 years and called him “a perfect fit for our company and culture.”
Raymond also will mentor and prepare managers for additional responsibilities, the company said.
Weisglass, who has been a New York area sales representative for Hooker, will take on duties that had been part of the job responsibilities of Bruce Cohenour, who was promoted to executive vice president of marketing at Hooker in May.
Weisglass reports to Ray Harm, senior vice president of sales, and will be responsible for growing sales at targeted national and regional key accounts.
Weisglass comes from a family of Hooker Furniture reps. His father, Richard, has been a rep in the New York metro area for the past 50 years. Richard's father and Keith's grandfather, William, was the company's first rep in that area in 1925.
