Scoperta show moves back to Switzerland
New site is closer to Italy’s Proposte fair

CIRENCESTER, England – Scoperta, the home textiles trade show that runs concurrently with Italy’s Proposte fabric fair, is moving its location back to Chiasso, Switzerland, its original home during eight of its 11 years.
The Scoperta show runs May 6 to 8, while Proposte runs May 7 to 10.
In September 2007, Bill Davis, head of show organizer Trade Link, said the 2008 Scoperta exhibition would be held in Como, Italy, next door to Cernobbio, the site of the high-end Proposte decorative fabric exhibition.
But in December, Scoperta’s location was changed to Fiera Milano in Rho, Italy – a 45- minute drive from Proposte’s venue at Villa Erba. Scoperta planned to provide mini-bus service, chauffer-driven Mercedes limos and helicopters to expedite travel between the two sites. The Fiera Milano site was deemed to be a better locale than the Como one, Davis said at the time.
Returning to its roots in Chiasso will cut travel time to 10 or 15 minutes, Davis said. The show will be housed in the main hall of the Palapenz center as well as in a temporary structure, with a total of up to 60 exhibitors.
Visas will be necessary for non-European Union residents. But, Davis noted, “it is anticipated that the border controls between Italy and Switzerland will be quick and easy.”
