The mattresses will be distributed in the coming weeks to Sunnybrook Children's Home, The Mustard Seed, Southern Christian Services, The Hope House of Hospitality, Lizzie's House, Christians in Action, and Oak Arbor Recovery Center.
The event kicked off April 19 as employees the three businesses gathered at Miskelly's warehouse to begin prepping the mattresses for delivery. The first delivery takes place today and goes to Sunnybrook Children's Home in Ridgeland, MS.
"When kids and their families are in need of shelter, their most basic necessities include a comfortable bed and a good night's sleep," Tempur-Pedic President Rick Anderson said in a release. He said Tempur-Pedic was pleased to be collaborating with Miskelly and WAPT "to make this happen for many Mississippians through these nonprofit organizations."
Miskelly's other community outreach efforts include its Caring Carousel in the main store, where riders can make donations that are passed on to sponsored nonprofits, and the donation of furniture to families in need through its Season of Giving program during the Christmas season.
