Upper South Studio launches residential fabric collection

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. —
Upper South Studio, a supplier of high-end fabrics for the contract market, has launched a residential line called The Priority Project.
Upper South's designs have been used by the hospitality, gaming, health care, restaurant and travel industries.
Motifs in the new residential collection evolved from drawings by company founder Laurence Rosen, based on 17th century sources in southern Greece. The Priority Project includes hand-made silks at “the highest standard of quality to enhance aesthetically-rich interiors.” To-the-trade sales are $185 per yard, with a five-yard minimum.
Themes for the designs include antiquarian patinas, ecclesiastical motifs, the bubbles and fissures of Venetian glass and the cracks and blisters of Sung dynasty ceramic glazes, using nuanced tones and saturations of color.
Company spokesman Siobhan Olson said the silks “have a lush, heavy hand — perfect for upholstery, draperies or wall art. The proprietary technique to produce these fabrics results in unique repeats that, like snowflakes, blend beautifully together to produce these fabrics so that no two repeats are ever the same.”
Olson said the product is available through its office in Winston-Salem. She said the company is considering exhibiting at Showtime, the High Point fabric show, whose next edition runs June 6-9.
Upper South is online at www.uppersouthstudio.com.
