American Signature plans LeBron James line

COLUMBUS, Ohio —

American Signature will launch a LeBron James line of home furnishings in its Value City and American Signature stores this summer, the Columbus-based retailer announced last week.

The company said it has entered into a licensing agreement with James, a Cleveland Cavaliers star who last season was the NBA's most valuable player.

It will be the Top 100 store's first licensed line. Product and design details are still being determined, said Mary-Price Furr, vice president of marketing/business development for American Signature.

American Signature will develop home furnishings in collaboration with James, his girlfriend, Savannah Brinson, and brand manager LRMR Marketing. Brinson is involved in interior design and works in Cleveland.

“American Signature is excited to partner with LeBron James,” said Jonathan Schottenstein, the retailer's chief operating officer. “He is a superstar — but in addition, an individual that has built his success on commitment, teamwork, leadership and friendship.”

James also has licensing agreements with Nike, State Farm Insurance, Coca-Cola, Upper Deck and McDonald's.
