ASFD adds green award to Pinnacles

NEW LONDON, N.C. —
The American Society of Furniture Designers will bestow a Green Leaf this year as part of its Pinnacle Awards for home furnishings design.
That's the name of the award the group will present to the best sustainable furnishings design, to be selected from entries submitted this year.
One winner will be chosen for the Green Leaf among three finalists. Entries for the sustainable award may be in any of the 15 product categories recognized in the Pinnacle competition.
“We believe that the addition of the green award is a natural and logical extension to the Pinnacle Awards and of what we think good design can represent,” said Dudley Moore, furniture designer and Pinnacle chair.
Entries considered for the Green Leaf will be reviewed by the regular panel of Pinnacle judges and also by the Sustainable Furnishings Council.
Entry information will be posted later this year on the asfd.com Web site. The entry deadline for the Pinnacles will be June 1.
ASFD created the Pinnacle Awards in 1995 to promote design quality and encourage the recognition of furniture designers.
