Executives

Select Comfort

Minneapolis — Ernest Park, senior vice president and chief information officer for airbed manufacturer and retailer Select Comfort, is leaving the company to become chief information officer at 3M, a Securities and Exchange Commission filing said.

Wendy L. Schoppert, senior vice president — international since January 2007, has assumed Park's responsibilities.

Marketing/Sales

Retailbuyers.com

St. Catherines, Ontario — Retailbuyers.com, an online overstock shopping site for home furnishings and giftware, has hired Dick Lennon as a sales representative.

Lennon, who has worked in retail and manufacturing, will specialize in the American furniture market.

Retailbuyers.com said it continues to add to its work force to reach more of the North American market.

Lennon said the business provides a vehicle for manufacturers to expand their retail buyer base and enables retailers to have access to products from new suppliers at prices that will enhance profits.

Suppliers

Guardsman

Grand Rapids, Mich. — Furniture protection provider Guardsman has named Sidney Dassinger its 2007 National Sales Representative of the Year.

Dassinger has been a Guardsman rep for 25 years in Georgia and Alabama. His success is due to his strong relationships with dealers and the support he provides, the company said. He also added a number of new accounts last year.

"It is an honor to have Sidney Dassinger as part of our team," said Greg Perkins, national sales manager. "Sidney is a well respected member of the furniture community and within the Guardsman organization."

Associations

AWFS

Commerce, Calif. — Dale Silverman has retired as executive vice president of the Assn. of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers after 14 years at the organization.

Angelo Gangone will succeed her.

Silverman will stay involved as a consultant to the AWFS. She and her husband will run their small ranch in Chatsworth, Calif., while building a management consulting business, Mystic Mountain Ranch Corp.

"For years I have been torn between the satisfaction I get from building successful and powerful organizations and living a more rural, small community based lifestyle," said Silverman. "I decided it was now or never."

She plans to remain active in state and national organizations of association executives.

At her retirement banquet, Silverman was presented formal commendations from public officials including President Bush, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and several others.
