Asian Art to distribute leather, case goods from Pacific Green

VAN NUYS, Calif. —
Asian Art Imports has completed an agreement to distribute palmwood case goods and leather upholstery from manufacturer Pacific Green.
The line will be stocked here and the inventory will be expanded as needed, said Asian Art Imports owner Wally Stryk.
Fiji-based Pacific Green uses palmwood — hardwood timber from coconut palm trees — as a substitute for endangered hardwoods.
Asian Art is purchasing containers of Pacific Green product, which was previously available in the United States largely through less-than-container loads, Stryk said. He said the high-end line has a diverse design aesthetic that includes modern, Hawaiian, American Indian and African styles, among others.
“It's a good mix with my line. A lot of people attracted to my line find it intriguing,” Stryk said. “From a business aspect it could greatly widen what I'm doing because it has great merit on its own.”
Some pieces feature mixed media. Pacific Green's leather upholstery items have nubuck, full grain and embossed leather options, among others.
Stryk said he is stocking a portion of the line. Customers interested in a container of the pieces could have a 20-foot container order shipped to Van Nuys within 90 days.
Coffee tables in the line start at about $1,199.
