Hike for Hope April 5

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 2, 2008

Grand Marshal Jayson Friedman of Coconut Creek, Fla.-based retailer Carls Furniture will lead the third annual Hike for Hope here on Saturday, April 5, just before the High Point Market.

Last year's event drew more than 200 participants and raised more than $20,000 for City of Hope, a research and treatment institution for cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Friedman will lead the two-mile walk through downtown High Point, which will start and finish at the High Point Market Transportation Terminal.

Event chairperson Ellen Gefen said the Hike for Hope is a great opportunity for market attendees to showcase their brand by donning their company T-shirts and walking as a team. "This event is a wonderful way to get your company representatives together during market and focus on a vital cause," said Gefen.

The evening of April 5, event sponsors will hold a reception recognizing Friedman's work as grand marshal at the String and Splinter Club in High Point. The market officially opens Monday, April 7.

Hike for Hope begins at 7 a.m. April 5. To register, visit www.cityofhope.org/nhfi/nhfi_hike. The $50 registration fee serves as a donation to City of Hope. Sponsorship packages that include tickets to the reception are also available.

For more information about City of Hope or Hike for Hope, contact City of Hope's Michael Sandler at (800) 272-2310 or at msandler@coh.org.
