Primo meets U.S. Customs' security standards
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 2, 2008
Montreal — U.S. Customs and Border Protection has awarded mattress and case goods supplier Primo International the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) designation.
The designation means that Primo meets effective security measures in the shipping of goods from its international source factories. As a result, the company can get its goods through Customs more quickly, with fewer inspections and priority processing.
Primo achieved the designation by creating standards within its organization for packaging and shipping of goods that strengthen security.
The company has what is known as Tier Two status. It is aiming for Tier Three, the highest level, and hopes to hear word on that designation within two months, said Nicky Andria, Primo's quality assurance director and compliance officer.
